The Spanish Ambassador to Ghana, Her Excellency Alicia Rico Perez has, in the company of the Deputy Head of Mission, Spanish Embassy to Ghana, Mr. Rafael Rodriquez-ponga Albala yesterday, March 23, 2021, paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Honourable. Dr. Mohammed Ibrahim Awal.

The purpose of the visit was to further collaboration between the Governments of Spain and Ghana.

Her Excellency, Alicia Rico Perez, indicated that the Spanish government desires to collaborate with the government of Ghana through the Ministry of Tourism to train young Ghanaian entrepreneurs venturing in area of tourism.

 The training, according to the H. E the Ambassador, would position the young entrepreneurs in the country’s tourism sector to be economically empowered and also become globally competitive.

 H.E. Alicia Rico Perez, then commended the Hon. Minister, Dr. Ibrahim Mohammed Awal, for the warm courtesy extended to her and the Deputy Ambassador of Spain to Ghana, on their visit to his office and also used the privilege to commend the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo for his exemplary leadership in running the affairs of Ghana.

 On his part, the Hon. Minister of Tourism, Arts and culture, Dr. Ibrahim Mohammed Awal expressed his unwavering commitment and that of His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa's  administration to collaborate with the Spanish government to help in building the capacity of young Ghanaian entrepreneurs to be internationally competitive and be economically viable.

 The Hon. Minister also commended the Ambassador and the Spanish government for expressing their willingness to help empower the young Ghanaian Entrepreneurs in the tourism sector.

Ministry Overview

The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture was renamed in 2017 through Executive Instrument E.I28 Civil Service (Ministries) Instrument, 2017 by His Excellency the President, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo to replace the then Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts. The Ministry’s policy directive is to provide a firm, stable policy environment for effective mainstreaming of Ghanaian arts and culture into all aspects of national life. This it is believed will help in ensuring the emergence of a strong, vibrant and creative environment that would help improve and advance the Tourism, Arts and Culture industry in Ghana.
