The final farewell for veteran Ghanaian actor Mawuli Yao Semevor took place on Saturday, April 5, 2025. A burial service was held for him at the National Theatre in Accra, after which he was taken to his hometown, Whuti, in the Anloga District of the Volta Region for burial.
A solemn vigil was held a day before the burial at the National Theatre in his honour. The event brought together industry players, family, friends, and admirers who gathered to celebrate his life and the contributions he made to the Ghanaian creative arts industry.
The Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, read a tribute on behalf of the Government and the people of Ghana. Other personalities who paid tribute included veteran actor David Dontoh and members of the Creative Sector fraternity.
The Minority Leader, Hon. Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, was among the prominent personalities who paid their last respects at the final funeral rites.
Mawuli Yao Semevor, the seasoned actor, passed away following a tragic domestic fire accident which occurred on Friday, February 7, at his residence at the Adenta SSNIT flats.
