A delegation of executives from the Ghana Hotels Association (GHA), led by Dr. Edward Ackah-Nyamike Jnr was at the Ministry to see the Hon. Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture in the afternoon of Wednesday 17th April 2024.
The Ghana Hotels Association was formed in 1975 and is made up of Managing Proprietors, Managing Directors or Accredited Representatives of Hotels, Motels, and Guest Houses that have been certified and licensed by the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) to offer accommodation, catering and other tourism services in Ghana.
While deliberating with the delegation on the ways to improve service delivery, Hon. Egyapa’s attention was drawn to the need for public-private-partnership in their space; a move he was confident would drive job creation.
The delegation registered their concerns on the computation of hotel property rates, the multiplicity of taxes and its effect on the cost of their operations, and the need for a functional hospitality training institution for capacity building of its employees within the space amongst others.
Hon. Egyapa Mercer assured the delegation of his commitment in ensuring their concerns are addressed, being cognisant of how relevant the private sector businesses are to our economy.
