The Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Hon. Andrew Egyapa Mercer has expressed the government’s commitment to a strong partnership with Grenada on the lines of creative arts.
He made these comments when he met the Prime Minister of Grenada, Hon. Dickon Mitchell (MP) on the 17th of May 2024.
Hon. Mercer recounted the signing of MOUs in February 2024 on cooperation between Ghana and Grenada in the areas of Culture, Trade, and Education. On that same line, the Prime Minister revealed that meetings had been held with the Foreign Affairs Ministry in Ghana and a roadmap had been set towards operationalising the MOUs.
The Prime Minister further indicated that Grenada was particularly interested in collaborations on monetizing the creative arts sector. He noted particularly the exchange of ideas between the countries and how it would enable creatives to access financing, as necessary. He shared that the Grenada Embassy had set up a creative desk to coordinate such collaborations.
On the lines of bilateral impact, Hon. Mitchell disclosed that key areas that both countries could collaborate on were capacity building, intellectual property, and financing.
Hon. Mercer expressed his readiness to collaborate with the Government of Grenada towards unearthing the endless opportunities that the MOU affords both countries and strategies to make it further practicable in areas of collaboration.
The Prime Minister was accompanied by Grenada’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Trade and Export Development, Hon. Joseph Andall, and other officials.
