The Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, on Monday, 17th March 2025, was taken on board the World Odyssey and a tour of the Schulte facility at the Tema Port.
The World Odyssey serves as both a passenger and an educational vessel, providing young professionals with valuable insights into the operations of the maritime sector and which further drives our national agenda of job creation in the seafaring industry.
The Schulte Maritime Services Ghana Limited (SMSG) is part of the globally renowned family-owned Schulte Group, a leading ship owner and manager with over 18.000 seafarers, 2,000 onshore personnel and a fleet of 100 owned and 600 managed vessels. It was established in 1883 in Germany. The Schulte Group is committed to maritime excellence. In Ghana, the SMSG is based at the Regional Maritime University in Accra and collaborates closely with the institution to develop and empower young African seafarers.
The involvement of the Tourism Minister, was to enable the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts and the Ghana Maritime Authority, to engage in a dialogue that would enable both institutions to shape policies and initiatives that would result in economic ventures and promote the creation of job opportunities for Ghanaian youth within the cruise shipping industry in Ghana.
