On Wednesday 26th June 2024, a delegation from the Ghana Energy Awards Secretariat and the Awarding Panel Members paid a courtesy call to the Honourable Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture.
The call among other things, sought to establish a collaborative relationship between the Ghana Energy Awards Secretariat and the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture (MOTAC), with a focus on promoting excellence and sustainable development in Ghana’s energy sector through the upcoming 8th Ghana Energy Awards.
As energy runs through several parts of our economy with Tourism and the Creative Industry sector not being an exception, the deliberations centred on how MOTAC which plays an oversight role in the hospitality industry can leverage Ghana’s energy transition, that is the consideration and usage of clean energy in addition to the already existing form of energy used.
The Minister opined the need for the sector to deepen the conversation on strengthening our domestic tourism base, to create another hub of income generation for the country, just as done in the oil-rich countries.
He assured the meeting, of the ministry’s interest in further discussing opportunities for collaboration with their outfit, and strategic ways on how to align with the goals of the Ghana Energy Awards, as energy is a key factor in driving the hospitality industry.
