The Kenyan High Commissioner to Ghana, His Excellency (H.E) Eliphas Barine paid a courtesy call on the Hon. Minister at the ministry on Wednesday 19th June 2024.
Kenya and Ghana have enjoyed strong bilateral relations that date back to the pre-colonial days when Ghana’s first President Kwame Nkrumah and Kenya’s first President Jomo Kenyatta were united in anti-colonial crusades. With one recent key occasion being the visit of the Kenyan President, H.E William Ruto earlier this year, the relationship between the two countries has strengthened in trade, diplomatic and historical ties.
While the High Commissioner congratulated Hon. Egyapa Mercer on his confirmation by parliament as a substantive minister and drew his attention to the need to expedite existing memorandums of understanding between the two nations, he was quick to add the expiration of his tenure as High Commissioner here in Ghana.
Hon. Mercer assured him of agreeing with him to align key agencies under the ministry in Ghana with that of their counterparts in Kenya – a way of further harnessing skill sharing and capacity building between the two countries.
The Minister expressed the government’s appreciation of the ambassador’s role in Ghana through his mission and hoped the two outfits would collaborate more.
