The Tourism Society of Ghana called on the Minister-designate for Tourism at the
Ministry along the lines of tourism promotion in Ghana.
Tourism Society of Ghana (TOSOGHA) is a non-profit organisation set up in 2006 with the core objective of promoting tourism amongst the youth in Ghana, and has since worked in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, the Ghana Tourism Authority and partners such as the Ghana Education Service in the promotion of domestic tourism.
A representative of the society, Mr. Joseph Amartey shared with the Hon. Minister-designate a Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) which they have with the Ghana Education Service (GES). Under this MOU, tourism clubs in the various second-cycle institutions have been set up, to be used as a conduit for the promotion of tourism among young people in Ghana.
Mr. Amartey stressed how pertinent the support of the government is, in ensuring that they achieve their goals. Key amongst these achievements he said, was the compilation of a tourism guide for tourism awareness and sensitisation among students in the tourism clubs. Having recently launched a chapter of the union at the tertiary level, he underscored his optimism in helping ignite the interest of students in tourism at the tertiary level.
While sharing his satisfaction with the work done, the Minister-designate commended the society for the great strides made in promoting tourism in the country and assured the delegation of the government’s support in their mandate.
