The Swiss Ambassador to Ghana, Benin, and Togo, Her Excellency Ms Simone Giger, paid a courtesy call on the Minister for Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts and Member of Parliament for Ketu South, Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, at the Ministry on Monday, March 24th, 2025. The meeting sought to discuss collaboration with Ghana in the area of Culture and Creative Arts, which could be used to promote Ghana as a tourism destination, among other things.
H.E. Simone Giger was particularly concerned about the need for efforts to be made to reduce the cumbersome visa application processes. She also mentioned the inability of the ECOWAS protocol on the free movement of people, goods, and services to be fully realised, as there are still bottlenecks that one will have to grapple with at the borders when travelling. She also remarked that efforts will have to be made to tackle the beachfront, as part of beautification of the cities and reclaiming the coastline and its environs.
Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie extended her appreciation to the ambassador for the visit and assured her of efforts being put in place together with other sectors like Education, Gender, Environment, Science and Technology and Local Government to tackle the issues that were discussed.
Present at the meeting were Mr Fallou Galass Bakhoum, an Intern working at the Swiss Embassy in Ghana, Mrs Mabel Cudjoe, Director in charge of Research, Statistics and Information Management and Mr Divine Kwame Owusu Ansah, Director for Arts and Culture at the Ministry.
