The representative of the President at the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, and Member of Parliament for Sekondi has pledged his unflinching support for the MoU between the National Theatre and the Boys’ Brigade of Ghana.
He made these remarks when he addressed a gathering at the official signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the National Theatre and the Boys’ Brigade at the National Theatre on Tuesday 30th April 2024.
The Boys’ Brigade of Ghana, is a para-church organisation with a focus on the advancement of Christ’s kingdom among boys, and the promotion of the virtues of obedience, reverence, discipline, and self-respect towards raising responsible Christian men
While addressing the gathering, the lawmaker shared that the signing of the MoU was a major leap towards the full realisation of the idea both entities jointly nursed. He further posited that for Ghana to attain the level of development it desires, such collaborations between public and private sectors ought to be promoted.
“It is therefore gratifying that under this MoU, the National Theatre will offer a variety of workshops and training sessions to the brigade across the nation, and this would enhance their appreciation and understanding of our culture through the performing arts,” Hon. Mercer said. “In a rapidly globalised society, initiatives like this are relevant to the preservation of our Ghanaian culture,” he added.
He pledged his full support to the partnership between the National Theatre of Ghana and the Boys’ Brigade of Ghana and hoped that this would inspire more collaborations towards developing the arts and culture space in Ghana.
